An important part of being an active member of the Church is Stewardship, or the giving of one's self to support of the life and well-being of the Parish, Diocese and National Church. This giving can be expressed in different ways but most usually comes under the general areas of Time, Talent and Treasure.
Each year we have an annual stewardship campaign to raise the funds required to operate the Parish and fulfill our required support of the Diocese and the National Episcopal Church. The amount each individual gives is strictly personal and confidential and is known only to the Treasurer. This giving is most important because it reflects the relationship that each of us shares with God and one another. There are numerous ways of approaching your financial support to Good Shepherd. The Biblical measure is the Tithe. This is a standard 10% of one's income. A variation of the tithe is to give 10% of the bottom line of one's taxable income. Whatever you decide let me encourage you to do so prayerfully.
Giving of one's time and talent is equally important to the life of the Church. There are many different activities that you can become involved with and I would direct you to the ministries menu on the home page.
I have always believed in our Lord's words, "You are more blessed when you give than when you receive." However, over the years I have come to understand that when done in love, giving and receiving become blended together until they are in fact the same.
Please consider your relationship to God and to this Parish Family and then, with a joyful heart, give what you are able to give cheerfully. Come to Good Shepherd and become involved with faithfully loving and serving your Lord.
