Safeguarding God's Children: Youth & Children protection
This is an online course providing information and guidelines for adults working with youth and children. The program is designed to create a safe environment in the church by clearly defining appropriate behaviors and practices working with minors. This course also provides an awareness of what a safe environment looks like as well as steps to reporting concerns.
Who needs to take class:
- All paid or volunteer church personnel who work regularly or occasionally with minors.
- Paid or volunteer church personnel who have key access to building.
Process:
Safeguarding God's People: Preventing Sexual Exploitation in Communities of Faith
- For congregations: To help parishioners recognize the signs of potential sexual exploitation in church leaders
- For ministries: To make church leaders aware of the signs of sexual exploitation so they can help prevent it in their congregations
Who needs to take class:
- All paid or volunteer church employees
- Full and part-time Vestry
- Lay Leaders and adults working with adults in the church
This course is offered throughout the year at Good Shepherd Church as well as various local churches.
